» Set Up Your Specials on Foursquare

Foursquare is a location-based social networking service that allows users to “check-in” to different locations like stores and restaurants. As a business, you have the ability to offer specials to those that check in to your location. This feature was recently enhanced, making the process quicker and easier to set up.

When a client checks in to your business, they can add a comment and post the news to other sites including Facebook and Twitter. Even if you don’t set up a deal or offer, make sure you set up your business on Foursquare – it’s free word of mouth marketing!

To create a special:

1.First you must claim your business, if you haven’t already – this article explains how

2. Click on Manager Tools

3. Click on Campaigns and then Start a Campaign

4. Click to Add a Special

5. Select which type of special you would like to create:

Swarm Special – define a certain number of people that need to be checked in to unlock something

Friends Special – reward when friends check in together

Flash Special – only the first X people who check in within a certain time period receive the reward

Newbie Special – people who check in for the first time

Check-In Special – available for every person who checks in

Loyalty Special – offered based on an interval, for example every third check-in

Mayor Special – available only for the person who has checked in the most

6. Write your description (200 character maximum) and click “Next Step”

7. Select the venues for the special and select “Start Campaign”
