As we celebrate this important day for WeddingWire, we want to extend a huge thank you to all the amazing wedding and event professionals, large and small, who have been part of the journey to reach this moment in our company’s history.
To continue celebrating WeddingWire’s 8th birthday, we’ve created with an infographic that showcases our transformation over the past eight years!
In 2007, newlywed Timothy Chi had first-hand experience in how painful wedding planning could be. As a technologist, he knew there had to be a better way. His mission: to create a more transparent, online marketplace to help engaged couples and merchants connect online.
In the past eight years, WeddingWire has grown that idea to become the largest and most trusted online marketplace in the wedding industry. We’ve come a long way from where we began, but our focus on helping wedding professionals reach more couples remains unchanged.
Despite some major updates, wedding professionals have always been at the forefront of WeddingWire.com. Just take a look at our homepage in 2007 compared to 2015:
Not only has WeddingWire grown, we’ve been a proud partner in helping our community of wedding and event professionals grow, too. We simplify their daily business needs by unifying lead generation, marketing, and business management tasks, all while helping them to generate leads by providing online exposure. Below are some wedding business growth stories we’re happy to receive (and share)! Continue reading
Wishing you health, happiness and much success this holiday season! Happy holidays from our team!

Happy Halloween from WeddingWire!
Every year, WeddingWire staff looks forward to dressing up, decorating and celebrating Halloween. Yesterday at WeddingWire Headquarters, our team celebrated Halloween early with a few fun traditions we’ve established over the years, including:
- Candy and decorations around the office
- All WeddingWire employees wear their costumes to work – group costumes are encouraged
- Costume contest held to determine the Best Group, Most Creative and Funniest costumes
- Our annual after-work WeddingWire Halloween party
Our Halloween celebrations keep getting bigger and better as our team keeps growing! Check out a few photos from our Halloween 2014 celebrations yesterday, below.
Every summer, the entire WeddingWire team to comes together for a day of team-building, learning and fun at WeddingWire Collaborate.
Collaborate is a one-day off-site conference for WeddingWire staff. The first half of the day is when all employees come together for an extensive all-hands meeting where we reflect on accomplishments made so far this year and followed by important updates about our upcoming ideas, products and programs. The afternoon is spent doing team-building activities which bring together members of different departments to work together, problem solve, communicate and get creative!
This year, we celebrated Collaborate 2014 at The Westin Annapolis! Our team-building activities were facilitated through two representatives from TrainingPath, who led our staff through a variety of games designed to create situations where our team had to work together (or against each other!) to reach a common goal. While it was all “fun and games,” our staff realized our greater potential working together to achieve the best results. Our Executive Team also unveiled this year’s Collaborate video, which featured a spoof of a famous scene in the movie Zoolander.
A special addition this year was our involvement with Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County! We were proud to welcome members of the BGCAA who explained their organization and the importance of their work. To thank BGCAA for all their great work in the community, our team built and donated bikes for the children in the organization! We had a great time building bikes for kids whose lives will be changed dramatically by receiving such a seemingly small gesture.
We capped the day with food and cocktails, and reflected on another great WeddingWire Collaborate! Check out some of the photo highlights below.
It’s July 4th, a day to celebrate the freedom we have as a nation and the hard-working men and women who got us here. At WeddingWire, we know we have a lot of “freedoms” in our office that make our company a great place to work (and we’re hiring!).
So far this summer we’ve been working hard on new events, products and promotions that will help our Pros succeed, but we’ve also made time for summer fun. After all, one of our favorite mottos is “Work Hard, Play Hard!” As the days have gotten longer, our team has been enjoying the weather and good vibes.
Below are a few of the ways we’ve been celebrating our freedoms at WeddingWire HQ so far this summer!
A night out with the Nationals
Since we’re located in Chevy Chase, MD, we like to take advantage of fun activities within Washington, DC. In June, WeddingWire staff was able to reserve free tickets for a game at Nationals Park, where we got to enjoy a night of baseball in the nation’s capital! Many departments took the game as an opportunity to bond as a group and welcome new team members.
Ping Pong tournament
Many staff members at WeddingWire love ping pong (we have a table in our café), so we hosted an internal tournament complete with an official bracket! 40 players signed up, and the tournament took place over a full week before the exciting final match which the full office was invited to watch.
This past weekend, members of the WeddingWire team ran in the DC Rock ‘n’ Roll USA Half Marathon Race 2014! The race, featuring both a half marathon and a full marathon event, began on Constitution Avenue and the course ran through historic sights like the White House, Washington Monument and more.
The race also featured a sneaker and clothing donation component in partnership with clothes-pin, a non-profit organization who focuses on the collection and distribution of sneakers and clothing for people in need. Runners and spectators were able to contribute these items during race weekend, and the donations will be distributed to local DC shelters.
We’d like to congratulate WeddingWire team members Americo, Brendan, Christina and Lizzie for finishing the half marathon! We’re so proud to have such driven and diligent people in the WeddingWire family.
Check out the photos below of WeddingWire’s runners with their friends and family after the race. Congratulations again to all the runners!
The WeddingWire team works hard all year long to make sure we are providing you with the best resources, tools, customer service and more to power your business, and provide couples planning their wedding with the tools and resources they need to make their planning process easy and fun.
Our team thinks that it is important to come together and celebrate our accomplishments periodically throughout the year – and we have team celebrations to look forward to each season.
This September, we held our second annual WeddingWire Activate, a day of fun for the WeddingWire staff and families at a local park to enjoy the outdoors before the weather cools off!
Highlights from the day included:
- A dunk tank where everyone got a chance to soak their favorite Exec team members
- Facepainting and other fun games and activities
- Lots of great food and drinks
- Photobooth fun with friends and family (by DC Photobooth)

Interested in our other celebrations? Review posts from past events – Collaborate, our off-site of team-building in Annapolis, Maryland, and Celebrate, our annual holiday party!
Every summer, a favorite WeddingWire tradition is for the entire team to come together for a day of team-building, learning and fun at WeddingWire Collaborate.
Each year, the team heads to Annapolis, Maryland, for on off-site day conference. The first part of the day the full team comes together to reflect on the year, accomplishments made thus far, and exciting updates on what is to come. The afternoon is spent doing team-building fun, bringing together members of different departments to work together, problem solve, communicate and get creative.
After the day, the team celebrates with a dinner and cocktails at a local restaurant, that has become part of the tradition, as well!

The start of summer is always a fun, busy and exciting time at the WeddingWire Headquarters! As a company, we have some fun traditions to kick off the summer celebrations as the weather gets warm and the days get longer here in Washington, DC.
One annual tradition that we look forward to each year is our official King of the Wing competition. During this competition, we have select team members join in for a chicken wing eating contest, with the rest of the company cheering them on! Each year’s King and Queen of the Wing champs get a trophy to remember their victory, and of course, bragging rights for the year!
Another fun recent office-wide challenge was our WeddingWire 2013 Ping Pong Tournament! With 32 competitors, series showdowns, and multiple days of games – none other than CEO, Timothy Chi, emerged as the 2013 Ping Pong Champ after a nail-biting final round! Check out the image of the final faceoff, below!
Finally, the team is looking forward to another fun tradition this evening, a night out at the ball game cheering on our local Washington Nationals! Baseball fun is big at the office – as we celebrated opening day with ballpark themed lunch and snacks earlier this spring.
What are some of your favorite summer traditions?
