» Account Updates to Reviews and Messages

We’ve made some updates to your WeddingWire experience to help you connect with more couples searching for their wedding team. Learn more about these updates to reviews and messages below!

Additional Details in Reviews

Recent reviews now display more information about the services you provided for past clients. These details are listed to give users more context about what offerings that reviewer used from your business, such as whether a venue was booked for a ceremony, reception, or rehearsal dinner; or if they had additional services such as event set-up, uplighting or catering.

How do we get this information? After submitting a review, couples are able to complete an optional set of questions based on your business category, as well as the types of services you provide as noted in the FAQ section of your Storefront. If the user completes these optional questions, the additional information will be listed with their review to help confirm which if your business services they used for their wedding that other couples may be interested in.

» Preparing for the 2016 WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Awards®

How your wedding business can prepare for the Couples' Choice AwardsBefore reaching out to a wedding professional, brides and grooms like to read wedding reviews to get a better understanding of your business. In fact, our data shows that 83% of searching couples like to hear what they should expect, not from the vendors themselves, but from past customers who’ve been in their position.

Unlike other awards in the wedding industry, the WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Awards® are solely based on reviews from real newlyweds and their experiences working with their wedding professionals. Our annual awards program recognizes the top five percent of wedding professionals who demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism.

Check out our tips below on how to collect more wedding reviews before the December 31st deadline and get one step closer to winning the 2016 Couples’ Choice Awards:

Send a “Thank You” note to recent clients

Because most communication these days is online, your email may get lost in the chaos of a client’s inbox. To get their attention, consider sending a “Thank You” note to some of your most recent clients! While this may take a little more time than sending an email, a handwritten note will stand out and be appreciated. It’s a personalized way to not only congratulate them on their wedding but also a great way to ask them to post a review for you. Just be sure to make it clear in your note that they can review you by going to your Storefront, and include the link whenever possible.

Remind your 2015 couples to leave a review

Take advantage of collecting feedback from all the events you worked so hard for all spring and summer! 1 in 5 couples will write a review when asked by their vendor, and that number increases to 1 in 3 if they are reminded at least once. The WeddingWire Review Collector makes requesting, following up, and getting reviews simple. You can upload your clients’ email addresses and use our pre-formatted templates or a craft personalized message to send your past clients a polite request to review your services. Additionally, you can share with your clients on Facebook or Twitter using our messaging!

» 5 Things Couples Look for in Your Wedding Reviews

Understand what couples look for in your wedding reviewsBefore reaching out to a wedding professional, brides and grooms like to read wedding reviews to get a better understanding of your business. In fact, our data shows that 83% of searching couples like to hear what they should expect, not from the vendors themselves, but from past customers who’ve been in their position.

We’ve compiled the top five factors engaged couples look for in your wedding reviews to help you understand the frame of mind your potential clients have when evaluating your business:

Responsiveness

One of the biggest things couples look for in your past reviews is whether or not reviewers comment on your responsiveness. Since research shows that most couples expect to hear back from a vendor within 24 hours, your ability to respond quickly and effectively is a huge consideration during the planning process. On average, 10 wedding vendors are involved in a couple’s wedding, so they’re constantly communicating back and forth with multiple pros. They need a professional who won’t make them chase him or her down to get an answer to a question or sign a contract.

Consistency

When looking at all your past reviews, couples are most interested in pros that have consistently positive reviews. They’re looking to see if most of your clients had a similar experience, and reading the comments your clients have made to see what patterns may emerge. While consistency is key, it’s okay to have a few less-than-favorable reviews scattered throughout your review history. Survey data suggests that 72% of consumers find a variety of opinions to be valuable when reading through reviews. Couples understand that feedback is subjective and having a few imperfect reviews does not necessarily prevent a customer from contacting you!

» 3 Reasons Why Wedding Reviews are Important to Couples

WedInsights

Engaged couple searching WeddingWire wedding reviewsYou’ve been hearing it for years: reviews are imperative for your wedding business. We’ve seen just how important online reviews have become – and how couples are using this information throughout the entire planning process – from researching prospective vendors to making a final booking. But from the couple’s perspective, why are reviews so important?

Our WedInsights Series provides Pros with consumer and business insights from a variety of research and surveys conducted throughout the year. The Reviews volume is full of actionable information surrounding reviews from initial research to the actual submission of wedding reviews. Below are a few reasons your wedding reviews are important to both engaged and newlywed couples!

Couples are looking for baseline information

When couples read your wedding reviews, they’re trying to find out more about your business than you’ve provided on your Storefront or website. In fact, couples consider price and reviews to be the most important features when choosing which vendors to reach out to for their big day! Collectively, reviews provide information about your business’ personality, quality of work, and professionalism that is most likely not conveyed through your own marketing materials.

Couples want to read about the full experience

83% of searching couples like to hear what they should expect – not from the vendors themselves, but from past customers who’ve been in their position. Whether your reviews display your business in a positive or in a not-so-positive light, couples want to read about it all. Even negative reviews provide valuable information about your responsiveness, timeliness, and consistency. But don’t worry about a few unfavorable reviews: Over 50% of couples say they are more likely to consider a vendor who has a mixture of positive and negative reviews, rather than no reviews at all.
