» WeddingWire Rewards – Bookings for You, Rewards for Your Clients

We recently rolled out a new program that rewards couples for contacting and booking you on WeddingWire! Couples can now earn a $25 registry credit for every vendor they contact and hire through the WeddingWire website – up to $300.

WeddingWire Rewards is designed to give couples even more of a reason to contact your business, bringing you more leads and bookings. Here’s how it works:

  • A couple submits a lead to your business through WeddingWire Messages and lets us know they’ve hired you.
  • If the couple is not already booked in Messages or within the Clients tab of your WeddingWire account, you’ll receive an email asking you to confirm if you’ve booked them as a client.
  • If you confirm the booking, we’ll reward the couple by sending them a $25 registry credit.

A couple’s receipt of their registry credit is dependent on your participation in the program, so please try your best to keep your clients’ booking status up to date within your WeddingWire account. WeddingWire Rewards is a great way to build and strengthen relationships with your clients.

Want to let prospective clients know about WeddingWire Rewards? Share on your social channels! You can use one of the pre-drafted posts below.

» Celebrating WeddingWire’s 8th Birthday

In 2007, newlywed Timothy Chi had first-hand experience in how painful wedding planning could be. As a technologist, he knew there had to be a better way. His mission: to create a more transparent, online marketplace to help engaged couples and merchants connect online.

In the past eight years, WeddingWire has grown that idea to become the largest and most trusted online marketplace in the wedding industry. We’ve come a long way from where we began, but our focus on helping wedding professionals reach more couples remains unchanged.

Despite some major updates, wedding professionals have always been at the forefront of WeddingWire.com. Just take a look at our homepage in 2007 compared to 2015:

Celebrating WeddingWire’s 8th Birthday

Not only has WeddingWire grown, we’ve been a proud partner in helping our community of wedding and event professionals grow, too. We simplify their daily business needs by unifying lead generation, marketing, and business management tasks, all while helping them to generate leads by providing online exposure. Below are some wedding business growth stories we’re happy to receive (and share)! Continue reading

How long have you worked for WeddingWire?

4 years and 5 months

What’s your favorite part of your job?

Having the opportunity to work with such an amazing, smart, and hard-working team of Customer Success representatives who are dedicated to providing our community of wedding professionals with the best experience with WeddingWire possible!

What’s your favorite tip to help Pros?

Be open and willing to change. Whether it’s changing technology, the latest generation of customers you’re targeting, your website, your client management tools… always be open to change. Be willing to adapt and evolve yourself, your business, and your practices so that you can position yourself for success. As our CMO, Sonny Ganguly, has said repeatedly: Change is the only constant!

How do you keep up with technology trends?

I keep up with the latest trends by reading different blogs and websites that are tech related. My favorites are Mashable, Wired, Inc., HubSpot, and CrunchBase.

How do you keep up with trends in the wedding industry?

I have the unique opportunity to travel across the country and actually speak with our vendor community at WeddingWire events like our Networking Nights, Mix and Mingles, Workshops, and other types of speaking engagements. I always try to keep my finger on the pulse for the community that I’m visiting by finding out directly from the local professionals what is going on in their region of the country.

How long have you worked for WeddingWire?

3 years and 2 months

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is getting the opportunity to talk to so many different Pros each day. I really feel like I am helping them grow their businesses and I love when I hear about their success with WeddingWire. I recently moved into my market and I really enjoy being able to make a stronger connection with my local Pros, but I’m also excited to see how I can become more of a face in the local wedding community!

What’s your favorite tip to help Pros?

I always share with my vendors how important reviews are. People today use reviews to evaluate everything, from a restaurant to a dentist to a plumber. Weddings are the biggest day in a couple’s life, so they are going to want to read reviews to find out what to expect. Even if your business gets a lot of bookings through word of mouth, couples are still going to go to search your business name and expect to find reviews.

How do you keep up with technology trends?

I read blogs all the time. I am big on business and tech blogs such as TechCrunch and Mashable. I think we live in a tech-focused world and it’s great to see what is new.

How do you keep up with trends in the wedding industry?

I love Pinterest and Instagram. I think both platforms are great for inspiration but also to see what’s trending!

How long have you worked for WeddingWire?

2 glorious years and 7 months!

What’s your favorite part of your job?

The many opportunities our team has to meet our vendors face to face (through Networking Nights, Mix & Mingles, Workshops and WeddingWire World events). It is incredibly rewarding to meet our advertisers and hear about how WeddingWire has brought them success.

What’s your favorite tip to help Pros?

Utilize your network. A vendor can build a strong reputation by getting their friends, family, clients, and colleagues involved in spreading the word. This can be done via word of mouth, social media, events, email, and the collection of reviews.

How do you keep up with technology trends?

I’m a big fan of following tech blogs. My two favorites are Mashable and TechCrunch. I also follow them on Facebook and learn a lot directly from their posts.

How do you keep up with trends in the wedding industry?

Hi, my name is Katey and I’m addicted to Pinterest. Pinterest is a fantastic way to keep up with the ever evolving trends in the wedding industry. I follow all of the top wedding blogs and sites on Pinterest to keep myself informed. I always suggest this to my advertisers – it’s important to know what is trending so that you are well informed when working with today’s couples.

How long have you worked for WeddingWire?

A little over 2 years. Time flies!

What’s your favorite part of your job?

I love that every day I get to speak with new Pros and hear about their businesses and offer advice on the best way to maximize their online marketing. I am lucky to learn something new every day – from the Pros I speak with or from my coworkers. I’m also lucky to build strong relationships with our advertisers and love the feeling of getting to help someone grow their business! I absolutely love hearing from my advertisers that their investment in WeddingWire has paid off.

What’s your favorite tip to help Pros?

I always encourage advertisers to visit the catalog from a couples’ perspective. Not only is it a good idea to see how your listing looks from a user’s perspective, but it’s important to be knowledgeable about the other advertisers as well. This is a great way to remain competitive!  Check out your main image, is it something that jumps out at you? Is it something you would click on? These are great questions to ask yourself. Also, take a look at the average amount of reviews in the catalog. Always strive to be above the average to make sure your listing is as competitive as possible!

How do you keep up with technology trends?

I love to read Mashable on a weekly basis. They have so many great articles that pertain to my job and keep me on top of everything new in the tech world!

» Inside WeddingWire: Collaborate 2014

Every summer, the entire WeddingWire team to comes together for a day of team-building, learning and fun at WeddingWire Collaborate.

Collaborate is a one-day off-site conference for WeddingWire staff. The first half of the day is when all employees come together for an extensive all-hands meeting where we reflect on accomplishments made so far this year and followed by important updates about our upcoming ideas, products and programs. The afternoon is spent doing team-building activities which bring together members of different departments to work together, problem solve, communicate and get creative!

This year, we celebrated Collaborate 2014 at The Westin Annapolis! Our team-building activities were facilitated through two representatives from TrainingPath, who led our staff through a variety of games designed to create situations where our team had to work together (or against each other!) to reach a common goal. While it was all “fun and games,” our staff realized our greater potential working together to achieve the best results. Our Executive Team also unveiled this year’s Collaborate video, which featured a spoof of a famous scene in the movie Zoolander.

A special addition this year was our involvement with Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County! We were proud to welcome members of the BGCAA who explained their organization and the importance of their work. To thank BGCAA for all their great work in the community, our team built and donated bikes for the children in the organization! We had a great time building bikes for kids whose lives will be changed dramatically by receiving such a seemingly small gesture.

We capped the day with food and cocktails, and reflected on another great WeddingWire Collaborate! Check out some of the photo highlights below.

» Inside WeddingWire: Fun Summer Activities

It’s July 4th, a day to celebrate the freedom we have as a nation and the hard-working men and women who got us here. At WeddingWire, we know we have a lot of “freedoms” in our office that make our company a great place to work (and we’re hiring!).

So far this summer we’ve been working hard on new events, products and promotions that will help our Pros succeed, but we’ve also made time for summer fun. After all, one of our favorite mottos is “Work Hard, Play Hard!” As the days have gotten longer, our team has been enjoying the weather and good vibes.

Below are a few of the ways we’ve been celebrating our freedoms at WeddingWire HQ so far this summer!

Inside WeddingWire: Fun Summer ActivitiesA night out with the Nationals

Since we’re located in Chevy Chase, MD, we like to take advantage of fun activities within Washington, DC. In June, WeddingWire staff was able to reserve free tickets for a game at Nationals Park, where we got to enjoy a night of baseball in the nation’s capital! Many departments took the game as an opportunity to bond as a group and welcome new team members.

Ping Pong tournament

Many staff members at WeddingWire love ping pong (we have a table in our café), so we hosted an internal tournament complete with an official bracket! 40 players signed up, and the tournament took place over a full week before the exciting final match which the full office was invited to watch.

» Inside WeddingWire: DC Capital Pride Parade

It’s officially Pride Month, and WeddingWire was happy to kick off the celebrations in the nation’s capital by walking in the 39th Annual Capital Pride Parade!

WeddingWire staff, along with LGBTQ-friendly couples and wedding professionals, showed support for same-sex couples and gay marriage supporters throughout the nation by walking in the Capital Pride Parade. Our team was also joined by Kathryn Hamm, President of GayWeddings.com. The parade was just one of a number of celebrations hosted by Capital Pride of DC, including poetry readings, a 5K, bike party, music festival and more!

Capital Pride is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the LGBTQ community and its partners through educational events, entertainment, community outreach, and celebrations of diversity. The Capital Pride celebration as we know it now traces its history back to the first LGBT festival in Washington, DC in 1975. The tradition has continued, and only gotten stronger.

We are thrilled to have been involved in DC’s Pride Month celebrations. The WeddingWire team was at Capital Pride in both 2012 and 2013 to help festival-goers learn about and join the Wed We Can campaign, but walking in the parade was a new and humbling experience for all of us.

Thank you so much to all the WeddingWire couples and Pros who walked with us in the parade! Check out some of our photo highlights below.
