Technology is changing how brides and grooms plan their weddings. Today it’s all about getting their attention through online advertising, facebooking, tweeting, blogging, search engine optimizing, mobile browsing…Oh my! The last five years has seen a rapid evolution in how we market our businesses, but technology is going to evolve at an even faster rate in the next five years! We need to be prepared for the future of technology and what it means for our company, our employees and our customers.
Over the next few weeks I will share my Top 10 Predictions for the Future of Technology, here is #1:
Social media has been the darling of the last five years. Facebook boasts over 750 million users and ranks as the 3rd largest country in the world, just behind China and India. Last year we sent 25 billion tweets on twitter, but just five years earlier we had no idea what a ‘tweet’ was. Social media’s growth is unlike anything we have experienced, but that growth is going to slow.
The majority of Americans visit Facebook each month and studies show that as we continue to add more friends, our usage rates decline over time. We tend to be the most social when our networks are built with people we know closely, but as our circles grow we change our behavior patterns. We become less social! Social media will continue to dominate, but the growth will slow.
