» Instagram Update: New User Tags!

Recently, popular photo-sharing and social media mobile app, Instagram, announced an exciting new update – the ability to view ‘Photos of You’ and add ‘user tags.’

These updates have been actively anticipated by users for some time. Now, friends on Instagram can not only see your own photos that you upload, edit, tag and share, but also view those photos that your friends tag you in.

A new Photos of You section has also been added to all members’ profiles, where you can see any photo linked to that account (with privacy settings available). Just like photo tagging on Facebook, now you can identify each person within the photo by tagging them, and not just commenting with their Instagram name with an @mention in the comment (see the photo example to the right!)

Additionally, now users are able to add tags to their friends on other people’s photos. Previously, only the photo owner was able to tag people’s profiles in each shot, but now other people and fiends can add tags, so that friend will be notified about the post.

These new features can impact your business. Now, you are able to be tagged and tag at events, showing off your work, and associate them with various events and clients. Now, if you upload a photo from a wedding, you are able to tag the happy couple, and vice versa! This will provide added brand exposure for your business.

These updates are live with the latest version of the app for both Androids and iPhone iOS. Don’t have the feature? Check your phone’s apps updates, or visit the iTunes App Store or Google Play to get the latest version up-to-date on your phone and start tagging!
